Dragon Character Modelling
I've also now started modelling the dragon that is the second character in my film. I went through the same process as the girl model which was to create the base in Zbrush with Zspheres and then import it into maya to add the details. I ended up going through this about five times as I keep finding things that needed to changing. A couple of times this was due to the geometry being very messy but eventually i got it right. These first two images are of the first couple of attempts and as I said, the geometry is all over the place.
These first two images are of the first couple of attempts and as i said, the geometry is all over the place. The next image is of the third or fourth attempt and it was very nearly done but I realized that the geometry at the base of the wings was a bit stretched and I thought it might give me a problem later down the line so i decided to go back to Zbrush and just got rid of those Zspheres and then model the wings in Maya.
Redoing this over and over again ended up being a blessing in disguise as each time the sculpt got better and better and more refined. I ended up really happy with the overall shape of the base model.
I have also done a quick little test using nCloth to see if it could work for the wings. I managed to attach the cloth the model by constraining it to a passive object using 'point to surface' in the nConstraint tab.
